25.03.2026, In six months, Switzerland eagerly looks towards China. From September 22 to 27, 2026, the WorldSkills, the largest vocational championships in the world will take place in Shanghai. A total of 42 young Swiss individuals will compete in 38 skills against approximately 1,400 participants from over 60 countries. Since their selection, the SwissSkills National Team has been preparing intensively for the international competition, with the clear goal of again reaching a top-3 ranking in the national standings. About 1,000 training hours per talent should pave the way to world-class success and showcase the strength of Swiss vocational training.


Switzerland goes to the start with 42 competitors in 38 skills. The 42 young vocational talents face the competition of their lives! They will represent Switzerland at the WorldSkills in Shanghai, China. Here, they will not only represent their country but also their professions and their passion. Competing in a total of 38 skills, whether floristry, cyber security, automobile mechatronics, polymechanics, garment design, or hotel reception, a total of 64 contests are on the program. The WorldSkills are considered the largest international competition in the field of vocational training, bringing together around 1,400 competitors from over 60 countries. For Switzerland, this is a unique opportunity to make the strength of the dual education system visible and to put the spotlight on the young professional talent.

Intensive preparation for international competition. Before the international event in September, these young professionals will undergo an intensive training program. In the coming months, they will invest around 1,000 hours in their preparation with the support of their experts, professional associations, employers, and team leaders. Beyond technical perfection, the focus is on mental strength, team spirit, and perseverance. Several joint weekends together also strengthen the team cohesion. The goal is clear: Switzerland should also be among the most successful nations in Shanghai and simultaneously defend the title as the best European country.

Inspiration for an entire generation. The SwissSkills National Team is more than just a selection of competitors. The young talents are ambassadors for their professions. With their commitment, they inspire young people to pursue vocational training and harness their talents. Their stories demonstrate that professional excellence and passion can lead to something truly great.
