Flagship store with new radiance: style-defining for the region and part of Manor's nationwide modernization.
Manor modernizes fashion areas in 12 major department stores.
The presentation of the new fashion offering follows Manor's typical 360-degree concept, incorporating all touchpoints of the shopping experience: from window displays and store design to digital image worlds and communication on manor.ch, the app, and social media.
For the first time, the company's new fashion concept was implemented in 2024 at the Manor department stores in Basel and Lausanne. In 2025, Lugano, Vevey, and now Geneva were added. In the next two years, department stores in Chavannes, Emmen, Fribourg, Winterthur, Aarau, Monthey, Zurich Letzipark, and the Zurich flagship store in 2028 will follow. Manor is thus renewing over 20,000 m² of space and investing around 50 million CHF in the fashion sector alone to enhance the customer experience.
Other department stores also experience selective renewals, focusing on assortment appeal, brand portfolio, look & feel, or modern presentation—all tailored to local conditions and customer needs.

The history of Manor begins at the end of the 19th century in bilingual Biel, marking the future development of the company. Here, brothers and wholesale traders Ernest and Henri Maus—since 1901 residing with their wholesale business Maus Frères in Geneva—befriend their client, retail merchant Léon Nordmann. In 1902, the three visionary businessmen jointly open the department store 'Léon Nordmann' on Weggisgasse in Lucerne, considered the origin of today's corporate group. Over time, numerous department stores of the family company were established in Switzerland.
The company name Manor—composed of Maus and Nordmann—was created around 1965 during the establishment of a new corporate identity. At the same time, the previously different names of the department stores were regionally redefined: Rheinbrücke for Basel and Liestal, Nordmann for Central Switzerland, Vilan for the Zurich/Eastern Switzerland region, Placette for the French-speaking part of Switzerland, Innovazione for Ticino. Since 1994, all department stores in German Switzerland belonging to the company, and since September 2000 all stores in Western Switzerland and Ticino, have been renamed Manor.
Manor AG, headquartered in Basel, is a subsidiary of Maus Frères Holding in Geneva. The largest Swiss department store group welcomes its customers at the most attractive locations in the country, thus contributing to the vibrancy of Swiss cities. At the same time, the company pursues an omnichannel strategy (utilizing and linking physical stores and online shops) and operates an online marketplace on manor.ch for selected manufacturers and brand partners. The company is present in all parts of the country, employs around 7,900 staff, and trains over 200 apprentices.
The Manor Group includes 59 Manor department stores, 27 Manor Food supermarkets, and 23 Manora restaurants. Manor offers over a million items from around 2,800 suppliers worldwide. About 700 of these are local producers, who, within the Manor program 'Local,' deliver, among other things, seasonal products to Manor Food supermarkets. Manor is proud of its range of over 5,000 local products, supporting farmers and local businesses and promoting local cultivation. For the preparation of dishes in Manora restaurants, fresh ingredients of the highest quality and certified local products from within a maximum of 30 kilometers are used.
