The new snowmaking system on trial
The technical snowmaking system expanded further in the summer of 2025 faced a real test this winter. A strategically used cold-weather window in November enabled an early start to the season on 22 November with initially limited but attractive slope offerings. These offerings were continuously expanded, providing guests with about 20 kilometers of well-prepared slopes over Christmas and New Year, despite low natural snowfall amounts.
The powerful snowmaking system provided a crucial advantage during the snow- poor phase until the first major snowfall in February. The reliable offerings also appealed to new guests, which was particularly reflected in January with very good, indeed the best ever January results. In February, development was slightly dampened by a weather-related weaker week.
Exceptional season finale
March began with a sunny and mild phase, offering the best conditions for spring skiing. The northern slopes on Pizol ensured consistently excellent piste conditions even down to lower altitudes. With the fresh snowfalls in the second half of March, demand noticeably increased again. Contrary to the usual trend, very good operational days could still be recorded even at the end of March.
Gastronomy and accommodation also on a good course
The gastronomy businesses and group houses also developed positively. Many well- attended weekends, a mild turn of the year, and an increasing number of club and group skiing days contributed to a pleasing result. The continually high demand for group accommodations is likely due in no small part to the gained snow reliability.
More piste variety and attractive offers
In the course of expanding the technical snowmaking, the piste offering was also specifically developed further. On the Wangs side, new slopes were created and existing slope routes were adjusted. This optimized the offering both for sport-oriented guests and beginners.
The core offering is complemented by additional attractions such as the Riderpark, the Funslope, and an extensive network of winter hiking trails. Events such as the Migros Ski Day, the “Altiski,” and the Waterslide Contest at the season finale significantly contribute to the visibility and attractiveness of Pizol. The FIS ski races held at Pizol in mid-March also received a good response.
The mountain summer is approaching
Already on Ascension Day, 14 May 2026, the summer season starts with the daily operation of the Bad Ragaz-Pardiel gondola lift. As of Saturday, 27 June 2026, all summer cable cars will be in daily operation.
In addition to the well-known 5-lake hike, guests can expect a wide range of hiking and excursion opportunities. The “Alpine Cinema” by the reservoir lake near Pizolhütte offers an additional place of tranquility and vision. The newly designed lakeshore with seating as well as a jetty into the Twärchammsee invites visitors to linger.
Family offers such as the Heidipfad, the water forest on Furt, and the MounTeens Detective Trail form central components of the summer offerings. This is supplemented by mountain carts, which also allow for an action-packed mountain experience at Pizol in the warm season.
