The conference of the presidents of Pro Senectute elected Alenka Bonnard as the new President of the Board of Trustees of Pro Senectute Switzerland on 25 March 2026 in Bern. The 41-year-old lawyer will take office on 1 April 2026. She succeeds Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, who is leaving the presidency after nine years due to existing term limits.
Alenka Bonnard has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Pro Senectute Switzerland for several years and brings extensive experience from public administration, political bodies, and corporate management. The native of Lausanne possesses proven knowledge of federal structures and institutional cooperation and has been well acquainted with the strategic issues of the entire organisation for years. "I am very pleased to feel the strong support of the entire organisation. I look forward to continuing the successful work of my predecessor at Pro Senectute Switzerland," says the Zurich resident on the occasion of her election.
With the election of Alenka Bonnard, Pro Senectute is focusing on stability and continuity while also setting the strategic leadership in an open and forward-looking manner. "As a mother of two young children, it is important to me that living a long life in Switzerland remains desirable for future generations," Bonnard said. Her strategic focus is therefore also on the challenges faced by future older generations.
The Board of Trustees thanks Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf for her many years of committed leadership of the organisation and for the sustainable development of Pro Senectute in a dynamic socio-political environment.
