06.03.2026, Another accolade for the Volvo EX30: The smallest model from the Swedish premium car manufacturer has now received the prestigious 'Good Design' Award. The prize awarded in the Transport category recognizes the stylish Scandinavian design of the compact electric vehicle and its special focus on sustainability. The Volvo EX30 has the smallest CO2 footprint of all all-electric Volvo models and relies on numerous recycled and natural materials.

The 'Good Design' Awards are among the oldest and most prestigious design awards in the world. They recognize outstanding achievements in design, innovation, and sustainability. Founded in 1950 by the 'Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design', the awards annually honor products that combine aesthetic quality, functionality, and social responsibility.

'Rekha Meena, Head of CMF (Color, Materials, Finish) Design at Volvo Cars, states, 'We are pleased that our small electric SUV has been honoured by the jury.' 'The Volvo EX30 is our most sustainable car to date, all without compromising on the premium experience and safety. The Volvo EX30 may be small, but it is mighty. Its intelligent Scandinavian design exudes confidence, maturity, and versatility, making it instantly recognizable as a Volvo.'

A Modern Classic

The Volvo EX30 was first presented to the world in the summer of 2023. The brand's smallest SUV quickly became a bestseller, attracting new customer groups and expanding the all-electric portfolio. Globally, approximately 200,000 units of the Volvo EX30 have been sold, offering up to 476 kilometers of range (WLTP combined for Single Motor Extended Range) and appealing driving dynamics.

Tasked with developing a car that combines a premium experience, affordability, and high sustainability, the designers at Volvo EX30 had to rethink everything. The guiding principle was to achieve more with less. By trying to reuse as many components as possible, the material demand was reduced.

This approach helped enhance the CO2 profile of the Volvo EX30, expand the interior space, and lower the costs. The result is an electric car that embodies classic Volvo principles of design, safety, and sustainability and is affordable for a broader customer base.

Although the Volvo EX30 is smaller than all other models from the Swedish brand, it maintains the confidence, maturity, and Scandinavian simplicity of its larger siblings.

To maximize interior space and versatility, the compact electric car features suitable proportions. The long wheelbase, wheels placed at the corners and shortened overhangs give the model a visually stable stance. As a true SUV, customers still benefit from the typical versatility, high seating position, and sporty-robust appearance.

With the 2027 model year, set for production from mid-April 2026, the Volvo EX30 will receive several updates, including two exclusive interior designs and additional smart technology features.

The Good Design Award 2025 is only the latest accolade. In recent years, the Volvo EX30 has been collecting numerous awards, including the 'World Urban Car 2024', 'The Sun Car of the Year 2023', and 'Top Gear Magazine Eco Warrior of the Year 2023', and has been awarded the 'Red Dot Best of the Best Award 2024' as well as the 'Car Design Award 2024'.
