19.12.2025, The AMAG Group acknowledges the current political proposals in the EU regarding the end of the combustion engine ban. The position of the AMAG Group has always been against blanket bans. Regardless of any potential regulatory adjustments, the AMAG Group maintains its commitment to transforming its business model towards renewable mobility and its ambition for net-zero by 2040. The goals, investment strategy, and implementation path remain unchanged. A clear sign of this commitment is the recent increase in the internal CO2 pricing from 120 Swiss francs to 200 Swiss francs per tonne of CO2, with investment decisions being even more strictly aligned with climate impact.

The AMAG Group has been consistently investing in electrification, renewable energy, and new technologies for years. Our ambition for net-zero by 2040 is clear – and we are accelerating the transformation further," says Helmut Ruhl, CEO of the AMAG Group.

Renewable Mobility as an Integrated Solution Approach

The AMAG Group follows an integrated strategy and offers renewable mobility. It combines mobility, charging infrastructure, renewable energies, and their intelligent control into a comprehensive system – for both private and fleet customers.

The AMAG Group pursues a reality-based, technology-open approach, meaning that the future of individual mobility is electric, while at the same time, the AMAG Group is making targeted investments in synthetic fuels. In addition to an investment in the Swiss Cleantech company Synhelion, a long-term purchase agreement has been made, starting with over 50,000 liters of solar gasoline per year from 2027, to reduce emissions from the existing fleet.

Specifically, this means: With the widest range of electric vehicles in Switzerland, intelligent charging and energy management solutions, as well as targeted investments in photovoltaics, storage technologies, smart charging, and bidirectional charging, the AMAG Group is already laying the foundation for renewable mobility today. In the future, the company aims to ensure the conditions for an economically attractive, scalable, and climate-friendly mobility landscape. The consistent expansion of this integrated ecosystem directly contributes to the ambition of net-zero by 2040 and underscores the AMAG Group’s commitment to actively shaping the transformation of the mobility sector – pragmatically, market-oriented, and in line with the specific needs of customers.

Helmut Ruhl, CEO of the AMAG Group, emphasizes: "Renewable mobility arises from a broad and effective bundle of solutions. That’s why we are aligning our business model consistently with the decarbonization of mobility – focusing on electromobility and decentralized, intelligently connected solar power generation. At the same time, we are investing in new technologies and developing economically viable solutions with one clear goal: our ambition for net-zero by 2040."

Measurable Progress Towards Net-Zero

Since 2019, the AMAG Group has reduced its company-wide CO2 emissions (Scope 1-3) by around 30%. By the end of 2025, 88% of the AMAG Group's company car fleet will be electrified, and renewable energy will be systematically expanded across its locations and business models.

AMAG Group AG

The AMAG Group and its employees passionately ensure that people travel well. The individual desires and dreams around mobility fascinate us. Our drive is to fulfill them. This attitude has accompanied AMAG from the company's beginnings to today.

The VW Beetle, first imported in 1948, made owning a car affordable for ever-wider sections of the population. Dreams became reality. People's horizons expanded - and they enjoyed it to the fullest. All this and the rapidly increasing mobility needs with the economic growth of the 60s and 70s were foreseen by our founder Walter Haefner. Thanks to his visionary strength, he succeeded in shaping AMAG into the largest automobile company in Switzerland.

Today, the AMAG Group is a comprehensive and well-positioned national mobility provider. We sell high-quality automobiles, ensure their operation in all situations, and enable people with our own leasing company and other services (including car sharing, rental vehicles, and parking offers) to fulfill their mobility dreams. Our focus is on the customer, always and everywhere. Car drivers and corporate clients trust AMAG because we repeatedly positively surprise them beyond quality and expertise with excellent service.
