Kevin Lötscher raises awareness of brain injuries on World Brain Day.
A single moment can fundamentally change a person's life. In Switzerland alone, about 28,000 people suffer a brain injury each year, often as a result of traffic, recreational or workplace accidents. A brain injury can affect anyone and cause consequences that last a lifetime and are not always visible to those around them.
One of the 130,000 people in Switzerland living with a brain injury is former ice hockey professional Kevin Lötscher. In 2011, he was hit by a car and suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. The consequences of the accident forced him to end his promising career at the age of just 25.
Today, Kevin Lötscher is an ambassador for FRAGILE Suisse, advocating for people with brain injuries and their families. As part of the partnership with RoadCross, the foundation for road safety, which focuses on accident prevention among young people, this video portrait was created. In it, Kevin shares his personal story and compellingly demonstrates how a brain injury can permanently change a life. The video is available on YouTube from July 22.
