Reading time: 3 minutes
Sometimes a single sound is enough to evoke memories. The rustle of paper when a new page is turned on board an aircraft. In a world that is faster and more digital than ever, SWISS is giving its guests exactly this moment back.
A Magazine that Engages 'With the Airbus A350, not only is the most modern aircraft coming to SWISS, but we are also bringing back the SWISS Magazine as a printed edition,' says Léa Wertheimer, Head of Corporate Communications at SWISS. 'After a three-year hiatus, our in-flight reading material is back. For our guests, it's a piece of familiarity that simultaneously opens up new stories. We now combine the tactile reading experience with digital extras: via QR codes, there are videos and additional images.' As a special edition marking the introduction of the Airbus A350, the magazine accompanies the jet from the first idea, through the manufacturing at Airbus's factories in Toulouse, to the travel experience on board. Wertheimer adds, 'The magazine shows, over 160 pages, how numerous components come together to form a powerful aircraft. It offers insights into the world of SWISS and aviation, inspires travel, and presents Switzerland at its finest.'
Focus A350 – A Look Behind the Scenes Readers experience the birth of the new fleet flagship, delve into the SWISS Senses cabin worlds, and travel to vibrant metropolises like Seoul. There are also moving stories, like that of a flight attendant who fulfills her dream and bravely takes the path to the cockpit. And since flying is always about wonder, the magazine holds little surprises: a detailed hidden picture for children, a quiz for aviation fans, or a peek into the on-board kitchen where top chef Tanja Grandits reveals a sweet secret. But shh... that's only for those who turn the page.
Perfect Symbiosis of Print and Digital The SWISS Magazine creates a new balance between print and online. The feel of turning pages creates closeness, while the digital extension at swiss.com/magazine opens up additional dimensions. Those who read a report in the magazine can watch the matching video online; those who discover a destination can find more images, stories, and tips digitally. Furthermore, exclusive video formats like 'Behind the Wings' or 'Ask the Expert' are available online, providing deeper insights behind the scenes of SWISS.
Availability and Distribution Upon the arrival of our new Airbus A350, the special edition is exclusively available on board the fleet flagship in seat pockets, as well as in the magazine racks of all long-haul aircraft and at selected stations like the First and Business Class lounges. Thus, a piece of brand identity returns to the everyday travel experience.
For SWISS passengers, the in-flight reading material is downloadable as an eJournal on personal devices. Additionally, the edition can be browsed anytime at swiss.com/magazine online - along with all previous print editions.
