Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is reporting a positive outcome for this year's autumn holidays. Between 25 September and 18 October 2026, a total of 1,334,655 passengers travelled with SWISS. The airline conducted 10,154 flights in this period. Compared to the same period last year, SWISS transported 1.5 percent fewer passengers.
Improved Punctuality
68 percent of SWISS flights departed on time during the autumn holidays. A flight is considered on time if it departs with a delay of no more than 15 minutes. This improved the departure punctuality by 3.7 percentage points compared to the same period last year. Operational stability was also at a very high level of 98.2 percent. Stability here refers to the ratio of flights actually conducted to those offered twelve weeks in advance.
Oliver Buchhofer, Chief Operating Officer of SWISS, gives a positive review: 'Unlike the summer holidays, intensive holiday traffic in the autumn is concentrated within a relatively short period. It is crucial that our operations perform reliably even with high demand, allowing our guests to arrive at their destinations as punctually as possible. The improved punctuality is the result of optimised processes, which we have developed together with our partners. The high operational stability further shows that our system fundamentally works. This is very gratifying and we aim to build on this.'
London and New York Particularly Popular
During the autumn holidays, London Heathrow (LHR) ranked top among European destinations. It was followed by Palma de Mallorca (PMI) and Berlin (BER). On long-haul routes, destinations in the USA were particularly in demand, with New York JFK (JFK) in first place, followed by Chicago (ORD) and Boston (BOS).
