Every year, approximately 6,300 women in Switzerland are diagnosed with breast cancer, making it the most common cancer among women. Many affected individuals continue to experience fear of a recurrence for years after treatment. For the Lindenhof Group, this is a reason to dedicate a campaign to aftercare.
Taking on challenges
The motto of the new campaign is 'Feels Good'. It's a positive message intended to inspire courage, but it also clearly indicates that breast cancer aftercare involves numerous challenges. Not only does the physical healing process require patience and competent support, but patients also face various psychological stresses. The campaign's content reflects the good feeling that emerges when treatment and personal actions start to make a difference, when trust in one's body slowly returns, when dealing with personal fears becomes manageable, and perhaps even when a sense of normality sets in—whether it be an old or a new normal.
Personal support as a key factor
The ways in which the Lindenhof Group provides support are illustrated by specialists from various fields of the Breast Centre Bern. They describe why personal support and the extensive network make the Lindenhof Group's aftercare so special, why empathy plays a vital role even in aftercare, and why, alongside counselling, practical support in everyday tasks can be crucial for promoting self-efficacy.
"The DKG-certified Breast Centre Bern is the second- largest breast centre in Switzerland. We possess all the competencies for the successful treatment of breast cancer—from targeted prevention to treatment and therapy, to aftercare and far beyond."
