Contextualisation for Different Linguistic and Cultural Regions:
SWI swissinfo.ch makes Swiss developments and debates comprehensible for different linguistic and cultural regions and contextualises international themes from a Swiss perspective. The reporting ranges from direct democracy and neutrality to science and innovation, to migration, the economy, and the role of international Geneva.
"In a time of geopolitical tensions, the need for reliable contextualisation is increasing worldwide. Switzerland is widely perceived but not always understood. Our task is to contribute internationally to the visibility and understanding of Switzerland," says Larissa M. Bieler, Head of SWI swissinfo.ch.
For the Swiss living abroad, numbering over 838,000 in 2025, the service provides an important connection to Switzerland. Since 1935, SWI swissinfo.ch has been fulfilling the international public service mission on behalf of the federal government and delivers Swiss perspectives to a global audience.
