EchoSOS has established itself as a leading alert app in Switzerland over the past years. It includes emergency numbers from over 130 countries and, thanks to location data, always displays the relevant numbers. The EchoSOS app is free and is financed through patronages and partnerships with emergency centers, health authorities, ski resorts, medical services, hospitals, and event organizers. TCS now joins as a significant main partner, contributing to further development and whose services can be seamlessly integrated into the app. TCS has decades of experience in emergency and accident assistance and is also the largest ambulance organization in Switzerland. With the ETI protection letter, members worldwide receive support in emergencies around the clock – from medical advice to assistance in natural disasters to repatriations to Switzerland.
Lifesaving Minutes Gained
An emergency call can be quickly and directly triggered from the app, and the location data can be automatically transmitted to the rescue services via GPS, thus gaining lifesaving minutes in an emergency. EchoSOS also enables the storage of important medical information such as allergies or blood type in the digital emergency passport, which can be immediately shared with the rescue services in an emergency. A QR code for the emergency passport can be set up on the lock screen, allowing rescue services to access the data even in the event of unconsciousness. In non-life-threatening situations in Switzerland, the app also shows the nearest emergency stations.
New Features and Integration of TCS Services
With version 5.0, EchoSOS receives a comprehensive update, enabling more extensive support for those seeking help in emergencies. A key innovation is the direct integration of TCS services. Members can store their digital TCS membership card in the new Echo Wallet and thus access TCS support offers at any time – from the 24/7 availability of the ETI emergency call center to extensive breakdown and accident assistance.
The app presents itself in a modern design with a clearly structured home screen that puts the optimized emergency map more at the center of attention. This now also displays additional information such as the locations of defibrillators throughout Switzerland, making orientation easier in an emergency.
Users can securely store important proofs like the digital emergency passport or vaccination certificate in the Echo Wallet and retrieve them immediately in an emergency. Additionally, the app now offers an emergency advisor with helpful articles and practical tips on medical emergencies.
In the coming months, EchoSOS will be expanded with further innovations. Plans include an extended location transmission that allows, for example, for high-risk athletes or older people to share their position situationally with relatives or care providers.
