Eight Central Swiss Talents to Represent Switzerland at WorldSkills 2026

24.03.2026, In six months, all eyes in Switzerland will be on China. From September 22 to 27, 2026, Shanghai will host the WorldSkills, the world's largest vocational championships. 42 young Swiss men and women will compete in 38 skills against around 1,400 participants from over 60 countries. Since their selection, the SwissSkills National Team has been intensively preparing for the international comparison – with the clear goal of once again achieving a top-3 placement in the national rankings. Approximately 1,000 training hours per talent should pave the way to the top of the world and make the strength of Swiss vocational education internationally visible. Among them are also eight young professionals from Central Switzerland.


Switzerland will compete with 42 competitors in 38 skills. The 42 young vocational talents are facing the competition of their lives! They will represent Switzerland at the WorldSkills in Shanghai, China, not only representing their country but also their profession and their passion. They will compete in a total of 38 skills. Whether it's floristry, cyber security, automobile mechatronics, polymechanics, fashion technology, or hotel reception, a total of 64 competitions are on the agenda. Among the Swiss competitors are also eight vocational talents from Central Switzerland. The WorldSkills is considered the largest international comparison in the field of vocational education, bringing together around 1,400 participants from over 60 countries. For Switzerland, this is a unique opportunity to make the strength of the dual education system internationally visible and to put the next generation of professionals in the spotlight.

These are the eight Central Swiss vocational talents in the SwissSkills National Team: - Regula Baschung, Beromünster (LU), Baker-Pastry Chef, Skill Pâtisserie and Confectionery - Noah Hess, Goldau (SZ), Tiler, Skill Wall and Floor Tiling - Nicolas Imholz, Isenthal (UR), Cook, Skill Cooking - Manuel Nussbaumer, Menzingen (ZG), Polymechanic, Skill CNC Milling - Silas Nussbaumer, Alosen (ZG), Landscape Gardener, Skill Landscape Gardening - Alisha Rast, Neudorf (LU), Polygrapher, Skill Graphic Design Technology - Elias Schöpfer, Rengg (LU), Landscape Gardener, Skill Landscape Gardening - Janik Schumacher, Hergiswil bei Willisau (LU), Automobile Mechatronic Technician, Skill Automobile Technology

Intensive preparation for the international competition: Until the international competition in September, the young professionals will undergo an intensive training program. In the coming months, with the support of their experts, professional associations, employers, and team leaders, they will invest around 1,000 hours in their preparation. Besides professional perfection, the focus is on mental strength, team spirit, and perseverance. Several weekend get-togethers also strengthen team cohesion. The goal is clear: Switzerland should once again be among the most successful nations in Shanghai and at the same time defend the title of the best European country.

Inspiration for a whole generation: The SwissSkills National Team is more than a selection of competitors. The young talents are ambassadors of their professions. With their commitment, they inspire young people to pursue a vocational path and make the most of their talents. Their stories show that professional excellence and passion can lead to something truly great.
