30.01.2026, With the two new stations in strategically central locations, Electra brings ultra-fast charging to the border region and close to the Eastern Swiss ski resorts. This highlights the company's commitment to a comprehensive, urban-based charging infrastructure.
Electra is further expanding its fast-charging network in Eastern Switzerland: At the end of last year, two new locations were opened in the canton of St. Gallen, in Sargans and Diepoldsau. The new stations complement the existing station at Shopping Silberturm in St. Gallen, making the canton a central hotspot for fast charging in Switzerland.
Perfect location for ski tourists and transit traffic
The station in Sargans is located directly at the motorway exit and is therefore perfect for commuters and travelers on their way to the Graubünden and St. Gallen ski resorts. There are two charging columns with a total of four charging points available on the Aligro car park. They are equipped with Electra's proven high-speed technology and digital user guidance via ElectraLine.
First ultra-fast charging station on the Rhine island
In Diepoldsau, directly at the Rhine bridge to Austria, the first ultra-fast charging station on the Rhine island was recently installed. Two charging columns with two charging points each also provide fast charging times here and are thus ideal for cross-border commuters, travelers, and the local population in the Rhine Valley. Shopping facilities are located nearby.
"We expand where people are on the move. Along important traffic routes, in border regions, and at tourist-relevant locations," says Alessandro Inderbitzin, General Manager DACH at Electra. "With the new locations in the canton of St. Gallen, we strengthen the regional charging infrastructure and also create practical everyday offers."
Electra pursues ambitious goals in Switzerland. By the end of 2027, more than 600 charging points are to be created. With a focus on urban, easily accessible locations, the company wants to make electromobility as easy and natural as a classic refueling stop.
