The Swiss electricity sector is facing profound changes. Global crises, increasing requirements for supply security, new regulatory frameworks, and technological developments are increasing the pressure to act - but also open up opportunities for the industry.
At the same time, energy-policy decisions are shaping the sector's future: the implementation of the Electricity Act, discussions on the further development of the electricity market, and the perspective of an electricity agreement with the European Union bring issues of supply security, market integration, and investment security more to the fore.
For the industry, this means driving the expansion of renewable energy, the modernization of grid infrastructure, and the use of new flexibility and storage solutions consistently. Powertage 2026 provides a central meeting point and creates space for exchange, orientation, and concrete solutions.
'The Swiss electricity industry stands at a decisive point: supply security, digitalization, and the expansion of renewable energy must be thought of together. Powertage brings together the players who are driving this transformation forward - from grid operators and technology providers to research, regulation, and policy,' says Corinne Thirion, Exhibition Director of Powertage.
In exhibition halls 3 and 4, the entire range of the electricity sector is on display. National energy service providers are represented, as well as leading industrial companies, technology and IT providers, and educational and research institutions. Products, services, and projects are shown along the entire value chain - from energy generation and storage to grid infrastructure, trading and distribution, to measurement and metering, information technology, and operational technology.
A particular focus is on renewable energies and their role in stable electricity supply for the future. New impulses on this are set not only by the Powertage Forum but also by the newly presented 'Wind Energy Switzerland' thematic area, realized in collaboration with Suisse Eole. It highlights potentials, discusses regulatory hurdles, and identifies fields of action. Educational institutions present current research projects and training and further education offers for an industry that is undergoing strong technological, economic, and social changes.
With over 140 exhibitors, Powertage 2026 underscores its significance as a leading networking platform for the Swiss electricity sector - and as a place where the energy future becomes concretely visible.
The Powertage specialist program deepens the central questions of the electricity sector. The Powertage Specialist Forum complements the exhibition with high-profile lectures and discussions on pressing issues of the Swiss electricity industry. Experts from politics, regulation, grid operation, energy industry, and technology show perspectives and solutions for the transformation of the energy system.
On Tuesday, June 16, the focus will be on regulation: Electricity supply in transition: What the system needs now. The first forum day highlights energy-policy and regulatory frameworks. Benoît Revaz (Swiss Federal Office of Energy), Urs Meister (ElCom), Bastien Grand (Swissgrid), and Martin Pflugshaupt (VSE/DSV) discuss existing challenges and the prerequisites for a secure, affordable, and sustainable electricity supply. In the subsequent panel, the speakers, together with Nadine Brauchli (VSE), deliberate on necessary concrete measures.
On Wednesday, June 17, technology: Current challenges for electricity grids: PV surplus, prosumers, and AI. The focus is on technological innovations, digitalization, and the increasing complexity of grid operations. Speakers such as Dieter Maurer (Siemens Schweiz AG) and Gian Paolo Lardi (Repower) present practical solutions based on specific projects. In the following panel, representatives from Swissgrid, AET, Groupe E, and EWZ discuss the future of an intelligent and resilient power grid.
On Thursday, June 18, transformation: Speeding up the energy transition: Success factors in practice. The final day is dedicated to successful implementation projects concerning wind, water, and solar energy. Werner Jauch (energieUri), Fernando Binder (fmb-ingenieure.ch), and Christian Haueter (Morgeten Solar AG) show with association representatives which factors accelerate energy projects and how the energy transition can be successfully implemented in practice. The panel discusses with Isabelle Stadelmann how to truly accelerate the energy transition based on the insights gained.
Following the forum, Hall 4 becomes a hotspot for new ideas and concrete applications: at the Speakers Corner, engaging insights into trends and technologies in the electricity sector are presented by exhibitors and partners in concise short presentations and direct dialogue with moderator Giulia Staub and the audience.
Powertage is rounded off by other events such as the Energy Data Working Group (June 16), the event on the topic of Wind Energy! Implement now - we show how! (June 16), the Powerparty (June 17), and the Guided Tour of the European Power Network (June 18).
