31.03.2026, HUBER+SUHNER and Aurora Networks, a division of Vistance Networks, are working together on a next-generation Remote PHY solution that will encompass multi-gigabit services, future-proofing, and the sustainable expansion of Vodafone's cable network.

The two technology companies will assist Vodafone, a leading global provider of telecommunications services, in implementing enhanced, proven, and innovative technologies in the areas of Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) and virtual Cable Model Termination System (vCMTS).

DAA modernises cable networks by optimising the existing Hybrid-Fiber-Coax (HFC) infrastructure and improves internet speed and reliability by partially relocating packet processing closer to the user. This results in smoother and faster online interactions with higher data rates and lower latency.

This latest technology offers excellent opportunities for scaling and upgrading as well as a simplified migration path with lower operating costs, thus enabling subscribers to enjoy a more seamless and expanded connectivity experience with all its benefits.

"We are delighted to collaborate with Aurora Networks and HUBER+SUHNER," says Michael Rabes, Director of Fixed Access Engineering at Vodafone Germany. "The collaboration with Aurora Networks and HUBER+SUHNER is designed for the long term and promotes future cooperation. The DAA- and vCMTS-technologies are deployed in the live network. Thanks to our joint efforts, Vodafone is able to offer its customers a reliable and high-quality user experience today and in the future."

Aurora Networks, a global leader in network connectivity, brings to this partnership the virtual CMTS (vCCAP Evo™) and QAM video solutions. Additionally, Aurora Networks is the leading end-to-end DAA system integrator and utilises its extensive knowledge in the deployment and migration of HFC to DAA networks.

Aurora Networks' vCCAP Evo and QAM video solutions offer an agile, flexible, and efficient approach to implementing new network services in Vodafone's cable network, providing much higher density and capacity than hardware-based platforms. The system takes on centralised, automated provisioning, configuration, and monitoring of DAA devices across the entire network. By using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) standard servers for the vCCAP Evo and QAM video solutions from Aurora Networks, Vodafone benefits from reduced space requirements and energy and cost savings in the headend.

"We are pleased to welcome Vodafone to the growing group of global operators that have adopted vCCAP Evo," says Guy Sucharczuk, SVP & President Access Network Solutions, Aurora Networks. "vCCAP Evo will enable Vodafone to significantly optimise network performance, deliver multi-gigabit services to subscribers, and realise considerable energy and cost savings at the headends. By choosing Aurora Networks as the end-to-end DAA solution provider, Vodafone will benefit from the extensive and diverse expertise of our Professional Services team, which has been assisting network operators for over two decades in designing, deploying, expanding, and evolving their networks."

HUBER+SUHNER, a global provider of innovative and high-quality connectivity solutions, will equip Vodafone with next-generation Remote PHY solutions. The systems support full software-side interoperability and thus contribute to the advancement and scaling of Vodafone's modern HFC network architecture.

"This partnership is an important continuation of our role as a solution provider for cable networks at Vodafone," says Jürgen Walter, COO Segment Communication, HUBER+SUHNER. "Over the past decades, numerous analogue optical and high-frequency technology solutions from HUBER+SUHNER have supported the further development of Vodafone's cable network. We look forward to leveraging our deep and developed expertise to enhance the quality and performance of the cable network for Vodafone's customers in Germany."
