02.03.2026, The popular classical music festival (31 July to 9 August 2026) will take place for the eighth time and is themed "Icons" this summer. The outgoing director David Whelton has programmed four orchestra concerts, one song evening with choir, and four attractive chamber concerts. The film concert "Amadeus" is a highlight of the festival edition, which will be rounded off with an exceptional programme for August 1st and the family concert "The Bremen Town Musicians".

During the "Meistersinger" concert evening on August 3rd at the Klosters Arena concert hall, the Welsh baritone Sir Bryn Terfel showcases his full musical range - from opera to musical, from art song to folk song. With his wife Hannah Stone on the harp, pianist Annabel Thwaite, and the Zurich Sing- Akademie, the musical accompaniment may change, but the intensity remains! The renowned choir will also join the City Light Symphony Orchestra on August 2nd to bring the Oscar-winning film "Amadeus" to life.

Milos, one of the most significant guitarists, will perform at the Church of St. Jakob. Sir András Schiff will give two concerts on August 6th: first solo with Johann Sebastian Bach's famous "Goldberg Variations", then together with pianist Chloe Jiyeong Mun for Schubert's piano compositions for four hands. On August 4th, enjoy top-class chamber music with the young Pacific Quintet and the Septura Brass Septet London on Swiss National Day. Maurice Steger has invited the Swiss soprano Chelsea Zurflüh, alongside the La Cetra Barockorchester Basel, for his Baroque programme "Handel’s Heroines".

Boris Giltburg will interpret Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in B minor during the closing weekend. But Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor KV 466 in the opening concert (soloist: Lukas Sternath) on July 31st is also among the repertoire's icons, just like Beethoven's 5th Symphony, which will sound with the Camerata Salzburg under the conductor Antonello Manacorda in the same concert. David Whelton's farewell will be framed by the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen (conducted by Edward Gardner). Mozart’s Sinfonia concertante (Violin: Veronika Eberle, Viola: Timothy Ridout) will meet Elgar’s "Enigma Variations".
