Irène Messerli will assume the role of Head of Communications and become a member of the executive board of Zurich Public Transport (VBZ) as of 1st January 2026. Messerli has over 25 years of experience in the media and communications industry. She was co-owner and CEO of the communications agency Bernet Relations AG, and has led communications in various organisations, including a police corps and a university. Furthermore, she managed international communication projects at the media company Ringier and brings extensive expertise as a lecturer in the fields of digital communication, media relations, political communication, reputation management, and crisis communication.
Currently, Irène Messerli works in strategic communication for the Migros Cooperative Federation (MGB) and is a member of the national crisis management team of the MGB.

Irène Messerli succeeds Silvia Behofsits, who shaped corporate communications at VBZ for nine years and was a member of the executive board. She retired at the end of February 2025. From February to December 2025, Elina Fleischmann (Head of Newsroom) and Judith Setz (Head of Media Office) will co-lead the corporate communications on an interim basis.
