20.08.2026, Bern () - SRG President Jean-Michel Cina has informed the Board of Directors about his decision to step down from his role after nearly ten years. The timing of the transition has been deliberately chosen: The company's most important strategic project "Enavant" has been successfully initiated and is now entering the implementation phase. Additionally, the strategically important leadership positions are filled, and the new executive management began their work in April. This is also an appropriate time to transfer the SRG Board Presidency into new hands.

During his ten-year tenure, Jean-Michel Cina, as Chairman of the Board of Directors, who is also the association's president, successfully guided the company and its members through challenging and sometimes turbulent times. Under his leadership, the strategic transformation of the company was prepared and decisively advanced. His term also saw two national referendums in which the Swiss public decided on the future of the SRG. In 2018, the No-Billag initiative was overwhelmingly rejected with about 72 percent of votes against it. Similarly, the so-called "Halving Initiative" was decisively rejected in spring 2026 with around 62 percent of votes against it. Jean-Michel Cina was heavily involved in both initiatives and defended the SRG at the forefront.

Under the association's leadership, the strategy of the members was fundamentally realigned. Additionally, an impact model was developed and established on Jean-Michel Cina's initiative, which systematically examines, makes visible, and further develops the social and entrepreneurial impact of the association.

As Chairman of the Board, Jean-Michel Cina was always committed to a sustainable SRG and a strong media landscape in Switzerland. This includes, in particular, the strategic project "Enavant," which fundamentally changes the media house SRG and aligns it with future challenges.

The succession of Jean-Michel Cina is being prepared by an extraordinary personnel committee of the Board of Directors. The aim is to propose a suitable successor as President to the Delegates' Assembly in spring 2027.

Until the arrival of his successor, Jean-Michel Cina will continue to fully assume his responsibility as the association's president and chairman of the board of directors, exercising his duties with all rights and responsibilities.
