Lidl Switzerland has relied for years on a solid and practical-oriented apprenticeship training. The focus is on appreciating daily efforts and a strong sense of belonging in the #teamlidl. Included is the annual project week. 24 apprentices from various fields leave their comfort zones to prove their skills in real store operations. The aim is to deepen acquired knowledge and prepare for the upcoming working day after the apprenticeship. With the official handover of keys on Friday, 3rd July 2026, the apprentices are completely on their own for a week and bear full responsibility for smooth operations.
Steven Meier, Department Manager Talent Development & Learning at Lidl Switzerland: "We deliberately throw our apprentices into the deep end, but we have full confidence in them. We value their fresh ideas and energy. The project week offers them a safe environment to act independently, make mistakes, and grow together as a team."
The project week is not only a milestone for the apprentices but also offers the residents of Willisau a unique shopping experience. Lidl Switzerland thus creates a lively meeting place and emphasizes its connection to the region. Customers can enjoy refreshments at the grill stand and with coffee and soft drinks. Much is offered for families too: The youngest guests can enjoy a bouncy castle and free face painting.
