"With the second edition of our sustainability magazine, we transparently and accessibly show where we stand with our commitment. Each project is driven by people: our employees, Swiss farmers, and long-standing partners who dedicate themselves with passion every day. We want to tell their stories and show how we jointly shape change - tangible and understandable for everyone," emphasizes Grazia Grassi, Head of Corporate Affairs at Lidl Switzerland.
To contribute to the global sustainability goals, Lidl Switzerland focuses on substantial measures in five areas of action:
Climate protection:
How can climate protection succeed along the entire value chain? Lidl Switzerland provides insights into a combination of innovative measures: These include the research project for local algae feed, the promotion of biodiversity on farms, and precise AI data analysis. Investments in alternative drives and own truck loading infrastructures pave the way to fossil-free delivery in transport routes.
Resource conservation:
With 24% less plastic in own brands (compared to 2017) and a waste recycling rate of 92.5% for the 2025 financial year, the retailer sets strong accents in resource conservation. As a partner of RecyPac, Lidl Switzerland is also actively committed to nationwide plastic recycling.
Biodiversity attention:
Together with WWF Switzerland, the retailer committed itself in 2025 to the preservation of local moors. As natural sponges, they regulate water balance and maintain habitats for numerous plant and animal species.
Health promotion:
The sustainable offering is gaining popularity: Sales of organic products increased by 11% in the 2025 financial year. At the same time, 96% of seafood sales come from sources recommended by WWF (Green category in the WWF Fish Guide or products with organic, ASC, or MSC certification). By 2030, Lidl Switzerland plans to expand the share of plant- based protein sources in their range to one-fifth as part of a balanced ‘Planetary Health Diet’.
Fair trade:
‘Help that comes from the heart’ Under this guiding principle, Lidl Switzerland is specifically committed to people who rely on support in everyday life. The results of the past year show that this promise is lived: In 2025, an impressive 41 tons of food were donated to those affected by poverty thanks to the active participation of the clientele in the ‘Samedi du partage’ campaign. Besides the commitment to the UEFA Women's EURO 2025(TM), the Christmas period also symbolised solidarity: A donation of CHF 20,000 to the Petite Suisse Kinderhilfe enabled around 1,000 socially disadvantaged children to have an unforgettable celebration.
