The Liebherr Group developed overall stably and closed the fiscal year 2025 with a revenue of €14,772 million. Thanks to its wide diversification and decentralized structure, Liebherr was able to offset declines in sales in certain product segments.
Liebherr achieved total sales of €5,427 million in the product segments of maritime cranes, aerospace and transportation systems, gear technology and automation systems, refrigerators and freezers, components, as well as hotels. This represents a significant increase of 14.7% compared to the previous year. On the contrary, the construction machinery and mining segment, which includes the product segments of earthmoving, material handling, deep foundation machinery, mining, mobile and crawler cranes, tower cranes, and concrete technology, developed regressively. Although the specialist foundation engineering and tower cranes segments were able to increase, the revenue of the segment as a whole fell by 5.5% to €9,345 million.
Regionally, the group's revenues developed differently. Declines were recorded in Asia and Oceania, as well as in North America. In Europe, the picture was mixed: while business in non-EU countries declined, Liebherr was able to achieve revenue growth in the European Union, which was particularly supported by a positive development in Germany. Liebherr also grew in Central and South America, and in the sales region Africa / Near and Middle East, with South Africa and the United Arab Emirates proving to be key growth drivers.
The group achieved an annual result of €272 million in 2025. While operating income decreased compared to the previous year, the financial result was above the previous year's level. Even in the fiscal year 2025, the number of employees continued to grow: at the end of the year, Liebherr employed a total of 55,963 women and men worldwide, 1,235 more than the previous year.
Milestones in Autonomy In the fiscal year 2025, the group invested €708 million in its research and development activities. In the field of autonomy, Liebherr achieved numerous milestones. At Bauma 2025, Liebherr presented an autonomous wheel loader equipped with the award-winning 'Liebherr Autonomous Operations' system for the first time. Moreover, the prototype for an autonomous, battery-electric, single-axle dump truck called S1 Vision was introduced. Autonomous mining trucks are also on the brink of productive deployment.
Another development focus was on alternative drive technologies. Liebherr has expanded its portfolio with new, electrified construction machinery such as the first all-electric crawler crane HS 8100.2 dual power and the first battery-electric crawler excavator R 920 G8-E. Additionally, both the all-terrain crane LTM 1150-5.4E and the mobile crane MK 120-5.1E can optionally be operated via the power grid or an integrated battery. The range is complemented by the battery-based energy storage unit LPO 600, which enables the charging and operation of electrical machines on construction sites.
During the reporting year, Liebherr also developed numerous digital solutions. New assistance systems for fast-erecting cranes correct oscillating movements and allow stored points to be approached semi-automatically. With the Energy Planner, Liebherr offers software for planning the energy needs on construction sites. It helps avoid supply gaps and efficiently calculates charging phases and energy requirements. Across the group, Liebherr worked on a unified software base for digital services and the 'Software Defined Machine' program, which enables a future-proof control architecture for all construction machinery. The group also expanded its organization and competencies in the field of cybersecurity and strengthened the internal AI competence center to promote the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
Setting the Course for Growth and Competitiveness Even in the past fiscal year, Liebherr invested heavily in expanding production sites and rental parks, underscoring its long-term commitment to innovation and sustainable, organic growth. The investments, which were €1,059 million, were once again at the high level of previous years and were financed with funds generated within the group. Depreciation amounted to €587 million.
To meet the increasing demand for mobile and crawler cranes, Liebherr acquired a plot of over 500,000 m² in Ehingen-Berg (Germany). A new shipping center is being built in Kirchdorf an der Iller. At the Biberach an der Riß site, two high-volume orders for large slewing rings from the wind industry led to investments in production, infrastructure, and testing technology. Liebherr is also modernizing the production of tower and mobile cranes in Biberach by 2034. Internationally, Liebherr is also expanding its capacities: in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) and Guaratinguetá (Brazil), the group is expanding its production capacities. In Tupelo (USA), the group is setting up a new logistics center, while in Houston (USA), the purchase of a plot of land has laid the foundation for a new location for the repair, sales, and service of construction machinery.
Liebherr confidently starts the year 2026 'Liebherr expects a challenging economic environment for the fiscal year 2026 as well. Global uncertainties, geopolitical tensions, and increasing competitive pressure will continue to shape the conditions,' said Steffen Günther, Managing Director and member of the Board of Directors of Liebherr-International AG, Bulle (Switzerland). Accordingly, cautious investment behavior is expected to remain in various product segments. 'Even though the group has started the year 2026 with a pleasing order backlog, we expect a pronounced growth phase only from 2027 onwards. Until then, we use the time to invest specifically in our locations, innovations, and sustainable solutions,' explains Steffen Günther. All in all, the Liebherr Group benefits from its high diversification, international orientation, and decentralized structure. These factors temporarily help cushion global uncertainties. Against this background, Liebherr is confident of further growth in 2026.
On Thursday, April 2, 2026, the Liebherr Group will publish its current annual report. In addition to detailed figures, it contains a magazine section reflecting on the past fiscal year. In an interview, Jan Liebherr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Liebherr-International AG, and Sophie Albrecht and Patricia Rüf, members of the Board of Directors of Liebherr-International AG, draw their conclusions for 2025. In the video, Steffen Günther reviews the business performance of the year 2025 and gives an outlook on the expectations for the year 2026.
