The Lindenhof Group is proactively responding to developments in the healthcare sector by concentrating its inpatient services at the Lindenhof and Sonnenhof locations. Surgical, Internal Medicine, and Specialized Palliative Care inpatient services will be transferred to the Lindenhof Hospital by the end of 2025/beginning of 2026. Outpatient physiotherapy will continue at both Lindenhof and Sonnenhof. The primary reasons for this decision were the ongoing shortage of skilled workers, economic pressures, and regulatory requirements.
The focus on service offerings provides many advantages: it facilitates interdisciplinarity and interprofessionalism, thereby promoting the exchange of expertise across various professional groups and disciplines. Staffing shortages can be better managed, and bed closures can be reduced. For patients and their relatives, this means shorter distances and fewer transfers between locations in the future.
Modernisation and Increase of Treatment Capacity at Lindenhof Hospital
For over a year, the Lindenhof area has been upgraded, creating new inpatient capacities: two new bed units and expanded recovery rooms for operations. These are important prerequisites to ensure that the Lindenhof Group has sufficient treatment capacities to meet rising demand in the future.
The units in the Sahli building have been completely renovated: on one hand, the existing oncology department, and on the other, the palliative care unit will be integrated there. A new, modern unit with 12 treatment places - instead of the previous 8.
Early Information and Joint Development Path
The management of the Lindenhof Group informed staff at the Engeried location as early as June 2024 about the planned developments. It intensively accompanied this development process over one and a half years. Through regular information sessions and written communications, transparency and information parity have been continuously maintained. Many personal discussions with those affected have enabled the joint search for solutions. As a result, over 80% of Engeried Hospital staff will continue to work within the Lindenhof Group.
"We are very pleased to have found solutions after more than a year and a half. The focus on service offerings at Lindenhof and Sonnenhof Hospitals makes sense from many perspectives and benefits our staff as well as our patients. On behalf of the entire management team, I thank everyone involved for their perseverance and dedication, and wish everyone a good start in the new setting."
