18.05.2026, EuroAirport is able to recommission the main runway 15/33 earlier than initially planned after successful technical and safety controls.

The recommissioning of the main runway does not affect the already published flight offers by the airlines. The regular flight schedule remains unchanged. Upon the resumption of operations on the main runway from May 16, the usual arrival and departure routes will apply again.

The renovation of the main runway and Taxiway Bravo proceeded as planned. The work was necessary to ensure the safety and long-term reliability of the infrastructure. Concrete was consciously used for the renovation since it withstands the high stress of a main runway better in the long term. Thanks to the concentrated total closure, the work could be conducted efficiently and completed earlier than planned.

EuroAirport has also utilized the period of reduced operational activity to upgrade various areas of the terminal. This includes renewed carpets and flooring, modernized arrival areas, improvements in the car parks at the terminal, as well as renovations in the lounge and fingerdock. Moreover, Hall 3 has been comprehensively modernized and fully equipped with self bag drop facilities. The hall will be gradually recommissioned from the end of May 2026.

In a transitional phase until the summer holidays, there will occasionally be smaller construction sites in the terminal. These remaining works will be completed during June.

EuroAirport is pleased to complete the renovation of the main runway earlier than planned and thanks passengers, partners, employees, and residents for their understanding during the renovation phase.

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg is located in Saint-Louis, France, at the tri-border area of France-Switzerland-Germany. It is jointly operated by France and the Swiss canton of Basel-Stadt. The airport is globally unique due to its binational status and bears the IATA codes BSL (Switzerland), MLH (France), and EAP, as well as ICAO code LFSB. Since its opening in 1946, the airport has developed into an important transport hub, with approximately 8.9 million passengers (2024) and over 100 destinations in more than 30 countries.

The terminal is divided into French and Swiss areas, with distinct Schengen/Non-Schengen separation. Connections are available by bus (e.g., line 50 to Basel SBB in 17 minutes), via the nearby Saint-Louis railway station, and in the future, likely also via a direct rail line. The largest airlines are easyJet, Wizz Air, Lufthansa, Swiss, Air France, and Turkish Airlines. In short, a modern, tri-national airport with a unique legal structure and central location in Europe.
