Alongside National Councillor Christian Wasserfallen, Martin Keller, Head of Real Estate Switzerland at Sika, as well as Valais construction entrepreneur Manfred Schmid, also stood for the position. The delegates decided to present Wasserfallen to the General Assembly as the official election proposal.
Christian Wasserfallen (44) from Bern is a certified mechanical engineer from a university of applied sciences, President of Infra Suisse, member of the central board of the SMBA, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Walo Bertschinger AG Bern, and politically represents the FDP in the National Council.
In view of his potential future position, Christian Wasserfallen emphasizes the importance of the construction industry for Switzerland: "The construction industry makes a central contribution to the economic stability and development of our country. Switzerland needs sufficient housing, efficient infrastructures, and fair framework conditions to implement construction projects effectively. At the same time, we must invest specifically in the training of skilled personnel and shape the digital transformation in such a way that it brings real productivity gains, especially for our SMEs."
The election of Christian Wasserfallen is subject to approval by the General Assembly of the Swiss Master Builders' Association on June 26, 2026. Gian-Luca Lardi, from Poschiavo, has presided over the Swiss Master Builders' Association since 2015 and will step down from his position at the end of 2026.
