Microsoft impressed the jury in all three core areas: general innovativeness, product innovation, and innovation culture.
Catrin Hinkel, CEO of Microsoft Switzerland, is delighted with the award: 'Our employees, customers, and partners show day by day: Innovation arises through collaboration and mutual trust. Together, we are working to shape the digital future and further drive economic growth in Switzerland. This recognition honours the entire Swiss innovation ecosystem.'
A reliable partner for the digital economy in Switzerland
For 36 years, Microsoft has been shaping the digital future of Switzerland. From the introduction of local data centres six years ago, the opening of the Microsoft Innovation Hub in 2022, to the announcement of further investments of $400 million in June this year, Microsoft is continuously working to further strengthen Switzerland in the area of cloud and artificial intelligence and to provide a reliable and secure digital infrastructure. Today, Microsoft supports over 50,000 customers and 4,600 partners in Switzerland in their digital transformation, thereby strengthening the country's digital sovereignty. A multitude of Swiss companies and startups productively utilise Microsoft's AI technologies in everyday life.
Catrin Hinkel: 'New technologies like AI are fundamentally changing the economy. With our long-term commitment in Switzerland, we want to actively shape this change - for example, through our recent investment in cloud and AI infrastructure and training. So we ensure that our Swiss customers have access to the latest technological developments - whether large corporation, SME, or startup.'
Since 2019, Microsoft has provided more than 30 million Swiss francs in technological resources to over 1,500 local startups, creating more than 11,000 jobs. Additionally, Microsoft promotes AI skills in the broader population through platforms like AI-Fitness.ch and LerneKI.ch. By 2027, Microsoft aims to support one million people in Switzerland in AI training.
