The Douro, the soul of Portugal.
It's hard to believe that it used to be a wild character. Five dams have tamed the Douro, and since then it flows gently onward. This river has shaped culture, art, and cuisine in its cities and villages.
Charming Portugal made tangible.
The Douro travel programs are organized and accompanied with great care and expertise. They reveal local treasures and places of longing, offer insider knowledge, and convey palpable enthusiasm for the country. Be it on paths of nature and culture or with individual thematic focuses, such as culinary, hiking, or cycling trips.
"The banks of the Douro are sparsely populated, yet there's so much to see. We love this land, its culture, and its hospitality. Our land tours take you right into the life along this fantastic river. We meet people and their stories, far from the usual hotspots," says Norbert Tschümperlin, Product Manager for Portugal.
