What distinguishes a mother cow from a dairy cow? How should one behave when encountering a herd of mother cows while hiking? And what do the Natura-Beef and Natura-Veal labels stand for? Interested individuals will find answers to these and many more questions at the Mother Cow Switzerland tent (B42).
Bringing Mother Cow Husbandry Closer
For around nine school classes from the region, Mother Cow Switzerland offers a special educational program. The goal is to bring children closer to agriculture, particularly mother cow husbandry, and thus create a better understanding of the origins of our food. Moreover, the two child characters, Lea and Ben, will guide guests through the five exhibition days. A jump course with so-called stick calves, an exciting obstacle course, or play offerings at the popular partner Coop's stand are just some of the highlights in the realm of mother cows.
In the stables next to the arena, four mother cows and their calves of the Aubrac, Galloway, Simmental, and Limousin breeds are housed. On the weekends, they are also presented in the show ring – moderated by the Agricultural Centre Liebegg.
Trying Natura- Beef
Those craving a Natura-Beef burger will find what they're looking for at the 'Farmyard' with the Argovian country women. Visitors who wish to take home or gift meat from mother cow and pasture husbandry will find suitable offers at Stand B14: three producers from the region offer high-quality products directly from the farm.
Special Exhibition 'Argovian Fruit and Cider'
In addition to Mother Cow Switzerland's presence, the AMA Aarau offers further attractions – including this year's special exhibition on Argovian fruit and cider. A tour through the direct marketer tent with regional specialties, followed by the special fruit cultivation exhibition, is worthwhile.
Mother Cow Switzerland looks forward to welcoming numerous visitors and invites all interested parties to personally discover the world of mother cow husbandry at AMA Aarau.
