27.04.2026, As a globally leading biopharmaceutical company with its Swiss headquarters in Lucerne, MSD Merck Sharp & Dohme AG engaged as a sponsor of the whole event, reaffirming its commitment to the local community and health promotion.
The Lucerne City Run excites families, school classes, clubs, and businesses for the sport of running year after year, recording over 15,500 registrations this year – more than ever before. MSD provided 1,100 children with free participation in team runs for schools (3rd to 6th grade). The runs have been a fixed part of the race program since 1978, exemplifying the experience of joy in movement and fostering cohesion.
"The Lucerne City Run connects generations and creates a strong sense of community in an atmospheric setting – that's exactly what makes this event so special," says Andreas Grüter, Managing Director of the Lucerne City Run. "The renewed support from MSD shows how important collaboration with regionally rooted partners is for sustainably promoting movement and health."

With the recent move to the new headquarters in the Rösslimatt District of Lucerne, MSD emphasizes its long-term commitment to Central Switzerland – not just as an employer, but also as an active part of the local community.
