The shared use of Graubünden’s hiking and biking trails predominantly operates with respect and minimal conflict, as evidenced by surveys and evaluations conducted by the canton. Fairtrail Graubünden lays the foundation for this. Since 2019, the campaign has been raising awareness in Graubünden for respectful coexistence in the mountains, and now also explicitly for considerate behavior towards flora, fauna, as well as alpine and forestry operations.
Schurter will also appear in 2026 and 2027.
Joining the effort is Nino Schurter. Even during his active World Cup years, the Graubünden MTB professional served as an ambassador for Fairtrail Graubünden. Now, Schurter and the tourist marketing organization Graubünden Ferien have extended their collaboration for the Fairtrail Graubünden project by two years. In 2026 and 2027, Schurter will continue to advocate as a prominent ambassador among bikers and hikers for respect and tolerance.
"I am pleased to remain a part of the Fairtrail movement, ensuring the wide trail network in the Graubünden mountains remains open for future generations," says Schurter. For Martin Vincenz, CEO of Graubünden Ferien, the cooperation is a stroke of luck: "Nino Schurter is often seen and encountered in the mountains. Not just on his bike. He is the authentic and approachable Fairtrail ambassador that everyone knows," says Vincenz.
New clips released.
The new Fairtrail campaign carries the message "Our Paths Are For Everyone." In brief video clips, Nino Schurter can be seen as a considerate biker and hiker in the Graubünden mountains. Schurter demonstrates that peaceful coexistence and careful interaction with nature are possible through correct behavior. It is straightforward, as expressed in the new slogan: "Fairtrail – Makes Sense, Doesn’t It!"
The civil engineering department of Graubünden, as the specialist office for slow traffic, is the project sponsor of Fairtrail. The project is supported by all relevant offices and cantonal interest groups, as well as the specialist organization Wanderwege Graubünden. The shared conviction is that awareness-raising today and in the future is better than prohibitions. Essentially, lived coexistence is the best solution. This attitude is well-received: the Fairtrail project is now also being implemented in other cantons.

Note to the media: "Fairdinands" accompany the effort.
A central role in raising awareness on behalf of "Fairtrail Graubünden" is played by the "Fairdinands." Over 30 of these Fairtrail ambassadors were present on trails in 2025, delivering the Fairtrail attitude directly on-site. During 68 days of deployment across various Graubünden regions, they engaged in about 6,000 conversations with bikers, hikers, and walkers, etc. The "Fairdinands" will also be around in Graubünden this summer and autumn. Members of the media are warmly invited to accompany the "Fairdinands" on a mission.
