The Viktor is the award of the Swiss healthcare system. It recognises individuals, organisations, and projects in five categories that shape and advance the Swiss healthcare system. The fifth award ceremony took place on 12 March 2026 during the Viktor Gala at Kursaal Bern, bringing together representatives from medicine, research, politics, and healthcare.
'The nomination is a great honour and recognition of our work,' says Susanne Thost, Head of PINK CUBE Test Your Breast. 'The fact that the jury selected our initiative shows that the importance of breast cancer prevention and early detection is coming into focus - both among the public and in health policy.'
Relevance and Impact of PINK CUBE
PINK CUBE brings breast cancer education and prevention directly to people - in city centres, at train stations, and in village squares. The service is low- threshold and free of charge. Visitors can receive information, counselling, and examinations on-site. Cases of breast cancer are detected earlier thanks to PINK CUBE, allowing for timely diagnosis and treatment.
In 2025, 559 breast examinations were conducted as part of the PINK CUBE Roadshow. Of these, 32 women and one man had suspicious findings. In five cases, for which feedback is available, a cancer diagnosis was confirmed following further investigations. The collected data also highlights a clear need for preventive action: 31% of women forgo regular check- ups, and 55% do not regularly self-examine their breasts.
Additionally, PINK CUBE advocates for the nationwide introduction of mammography screening programmes and active participation in them. In recent years, political processes have been initiated in all cantons without screening programmes, aiming for their introduction. Concrete progress is evident: Aargau, Basel-Landschaft, and Lucerne will start a programme in 2026. The cantons of Glarus, Schaffhausen, Uri, and Zug have decided to implement one. In Nidwalden, Obwalden, Schwyz, and Zurich, political initiatives are advocating for the introduction of organised screening programmes.

PINK CUBE Test Your Breast is a unique initiative promoting breast cancer prevention in Switzerland. It raises public awareness, imparts knowledge, and strengthens early detection.
Early detection of breast cancer can save lives. The earlier a tumour is detected, the greater the chances of cure and the less burdensome the treatments are. Therefore, Switzerland requires comprehensive programmes for the early detection of breast cancer.
The cornerstone of our work is the PINK CUBE Road Show, which is conducted annually in October for breast cancer awareness month.
