12.08.2026, Rothenburg - The wholesaler Pistor sees great market potential in Western Switzerland: Within the next five years, it aims to increase its regional turnover by 20% to 170 million francs. Therefore, the company is investing 5.6 million francs in expanding its distribution centre in Chavornay. Six additional lorry ramps with rail connections and more logistics space will be added. The groundbreaking has now taken place.

The wholesaler Pistor is on a growth course. In addition to bakeries and confectioneries, it also supplies the gastronomy sector and healthcare facilities such as hospitals and retirement homes. The company has been present with its own distribution centre in Chavornay for almost 20 years: Ordered goods are delivered overnight from the headquarters in Rothenburg, Lucerne, by train to Chavornay in the Canton of Vaud. They are then further transported early in the morning by a fleet of 20 lorries, which is continuously being electrified. In total, over 20,000 tonnes of goods are distributed annually to more than 1,300 customers in Western Switzerland - and the trend is rising.

"More and more customers are choosing Pistor, particularly from the gastronomy sector," explains COO Thomas Gasser. The decisive factors for this are Pistor's high reliability, efficient processes, and wide range of products. "We set ambitious goals. Our turnover in Western Switzerland should grow by a fifth by 2031," says Gasser. To ensure the logistical prerequisites for this growth are in place, Pistor is investing 5.6 million francs in the expansion of its distribution centre in Chavornay. Within a year, six additional lorry ramps with rail connections and 400 additional square metres of logistics space will be created. This will create six new driver positions in the medium term, which will be added to the existing 47 jobs.

Investments across the board

Not only in Chavornay but at its other two locations, Pistor is investing in logistics infrastructure. "We want to offer our customers the best and most modern supply chain available on the market," emphasises Thomas Gasser. A large-scale expansion of the headquarters in Rothenburg is planned. In addition, Pistor celebrated the one-year anniversary of its newly built distribution centre in Eastern Switzerland in May this year.
