The project, launched in 2022, brings together Nestlé, Emmi, aaremilch AG, ZMP, and AgroCleanTech with support from the Federal Office for Agriculture. 222 dairy farms, with sales of over 60 million liters of milk, pursue the common goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as food and land-use competition, by 20% each by 2027.
Interim results surpass set milestones.
Food competition has already decreased by 21%, and land-use competition by 13%, both surpassing the interim targets of 10%. Greenhouse gas emissions have shown a decrease of nearly 6%. This is primarily because Swiss dairy farms started at a significantly better baseline than anticipated. Achieving further reductions remains a challenging goal pursued jointly by all project partners.
The focus now lies on the second half of the project: insights from the initial years are purposefully utilized and implemented to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions through effective measures. The scientific guidance from the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences (HAFL) and close cooperation with agricultural advisory centers enable a practical advancement of the project.

Nestlé is the world's largest food company and the largest industrial enterprise in Switzerland. Its headquarters are located in Vevey.
Nestlé originates from Switzerland and has consistently brought forth strong, forward-looking brands. Consequently, the number of brands held dear by Swiss people is substantial. Brands like Cailler and Thomy are part of our national culinary heritage. Nescafé, Maggi, and Nespresso are known worldwide. All were invented in Switzerland.
At Nestlé, we believe in creating value not just for our shareholders but also for society as a whole to achieve sustainable success. We call this creating shared value. This isn't a charitable notion; rather, we aim to achieve socially responsible growth.
In Switzerland, as in all other countries where Nestlé operates, creating value for our shareholders and our company also means creating value for the communities in which we operate. This includes our partners who supply us with raw materials, our employees, and, of course, our consumers. To achieve shared value, we must act responsibly.
Therefore, we must ensure that our activities are environmentally sustainable, socially compatible, and economically reasonable. For this reason, we will never sacrifice our long-term business development for short-term profits.
