04.03.2026, Letters, parcels, and newspapers also arrived punctually with customers in 2025. This is confirmed by the annual inspections of the government. The Post not only meets the quality requirements but surpasses them. For letters, the punctuality is over 97 percent, for parcels and newspapers over 95 percent. To ensure that customers can continue to rely on the Post in the future, it continually invests in modern and efficient infrastructure.

Post Surpasses Government Quality Requirements

The figures from the Swiss Federal Postal Commission PostCom prove the high quality standards of the Post. The Post has exceeded all punctuality requirements of the Swiss Federal Postal Commission PostCom. Last year, 1.49 billion addressed letters were in transit. A total of 97.3 percent of A-Post letters and 98.7 percent of B-Post letters arrived punctually with customers. This, measured against the legal requirements of "entry day + 1 working day" and "entry day + 3 working days". Thus, the Post's legislative requirements of 97 percent are clearly surpassed. A similar picture is evident with parcels: A total of 186.6 million parcels were sorted and delivered to customers by the Post employees last year. With 96.1 percent of priority parcels delivered on time and 99.6 percent of economy parcels delivered punctually, the Post exceeded the requirement of 95 percent. Subscribed daily newspapers must arrive with customers by 12:30 p.m. The quality target is 95 percent. The Post employees have also surpassed this with 97.8 percent. This achievement is especially thanks to the employees, as Johannes Cramer, Head of Logistics Services and member of the Executive Board of the Post, emphasizes: "In my meetings with employees on site, I am impressed over and over by their motivation. They play a crucial role in our success and deserve special thanks."

Real-Time Tracking

Is a parcel arriving on time? Customers can also conveniently track this via the Post app. Thanks to the online service "My Shipments", customers can track their parcel delivery in real-time. Customers are informed on the day before the planned delivery, with the delivery date communicated in a window of two to four hours. On the delivery day, there is a further notification with a more precise window of 40 to 90 minutes. There is also a notification if the delivery is significantly delayed. Shortly before delivery, the recipient is provided with a link to track the parcel in real-time.

New Regulations from 2026: Post to Maintain High Quality

In December of last year, the Federal Council decided to adjust the regulatory requirements for the punctuality of letters and parcels. As of April 1, 2026, they will be unified to 90 percent. This enables the Post to organize deliveries more flexibly and efficiently on days with high demand. However, this flexibility is not to lower quality. On the contrary: It helps keep quality stable even with significantly fluctuating volumes. The quality requirement remains a minimum requirement. As a company with a clearly defined legal mandate for basic services, the Post aligns its service promise not with minimum standards, but with the needs of the population and the economy. Therefore, the Post intends to continue offering higher quality than required by the new regulation. To ensure this, the Post continually invests in the further development of its infrastructure and adapts it where necessary. For instance, the Post plans to renovate and modernize its national parcel centers in Härkingen (SO), Daillens (VD), and Frauenfeld (TG) over the next 10 to 15 years. From April 1, the Post will additionally complement its physical post with the offer of the Digital Letter. With the Digital Letter, which will become part of Switzerland's basic postal services from April 1, 2026, the Post enables customers to choose whether to send or receive their letters physically or digitally, depending on their needs.

Independent Transit Time Measurement

For the measurement of the so-called transit time, an independent institute evaluates the data from about 65,000 test shipments throughout the year for letters. For parcels, an independent inspection agency of the Post evaluates the data of all individual parcel shipments over 52 weeks. The quality measurement of compliance with the delivery deadline for subscribed daily newspapers in areas without early delivery until 12:30 p.m. is also conducted by the independent inspection agency of the Post. The measurement is based on sample surveys by the delivery personnel. The supervisory authority PostCom reviews and approves the results.
