On Tuesday morning around 11 AM, another avalanche occurred between Täsch and Randa. A regional train of the MGBahn was hit by a resulting snow powder avalanche. No persons were harmed. Passengers were evacuated in collaboration with the emergency services.
As a precaution, the MGBahn, in consultation with external local natural hazard specialists, has decided to suspend operations on the St. Niklaus–Täsch route until further notice.
The MGBahn is in close communication with specialists and experts for continuous assessment of the situation along the entire rail network between Disentis (GR) and Zermatt (VS).
Route Closures in Detail: - Andermatt-Tschamutt-Selva: Rail operations suspended, no replacement transport possible. - Oberwald-Niederwald: Rail operations suspended, no replacement transport possible. - Furka Car Transport: Rail operations suspended. - St. Niklaus-Täsch: Rail operations suspended. Replacement bus service provided. - Gornergrat Railway: Rail operations suspended.
