The election marks SRG's ongoing transformation into a more digital, agile, and efficient media company, re-establishing itself. RTR is to be further developed as a modern audiovisual flagship medium for Romansh Switzerland and brought even closer to the audience.
In November 2025, SRG announced its plans to advance its structures and processes, including at the executive level. With the election of Simona Caminada as the new RTR Director, the SRG Executive Board, led by General Director Susanne Wille, is now complete. This marks an important step in the transformation project 'Enavant SRG SSR', which began at the end of 2024. Through its members, the SRG Executive Board remains anchored and present in the language regions, while simultaneously leveraging its strengths across the entire group.
A media woman with local roots and international experience.
Simona Caminada has been working in various roles for SRG for nearly 15 years. In her extensive career as a media professional and as an examination expert at media training institutions, she has built a profound understanding of all media genres, from digital to radio and television. She possesses extensive experience in the digital media sector, particularly in the target-specific combination of linear and digital content. Caminada masters the full range from local journalism to international reporting; most recently, she reported from Rome for SRF.
The 39-year-old from Graubünden started her career at the Romansh daily newspaper 'La Quotidiana', followed by an internship at RTR, an SRG regional unit. She completed her studies in 2012 with a Master's degree in Journalism from the University of Hamburg, after earning a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communication, and Film Studies from the University of Zurich. She is married, has one child, and will reside with her family in Chur from summer 2026.
Driving the digital transformation at RTR.
As the new Director, Simona Caminada will increasingly utilize RTR's journalistic potential and bring the program even closer to the audience, with particular attention to young target groups. She consciously relies on the broad-based knowledge and experience of teams from all regions within RTR’s catchment area.
Simona Caminada: 'Together with my future team, I want to further develop RTR into a modern, digital flagship medium for all Romansh-speaking people. RTR is the voice and face of SRG in Graubünden, and it should remain so for future generations. To achieve this, we will move forward boldly and test new, digital formats for the entire SRG. Being the smallest unit, RTR is flexible and quick in implementing new ideas, which benefits the entire SRG. I will also benefit from the knowledge and experience of RTR teams to secure our place as a relevant regional unit in the long term by advancing RTR through direct exchanges with the public, politics, and institutions in Graubünden, and strengthen connections with regional private media providers.
Vincent Augustin, President of SRG SSR Svizra Rumantscha (SRG.R): 'RTR thrives on daily dialogue with the Romansh-speaking population, in their language, within their everyday life. Simona Caminada is rooted here, knows the people and the regions, and understands how to listen and build bridges. Under her leadership, RTR remains close to the audience and strengthens the diversity and cohesion of our language region.'
Susanne Wille, General Director SRG: 'Digital transformation will determine whether we reach our audience tomorrow. Simona Caminada has a clear understanding of RTR and SRG's strategic challenges. She knows how media habits are shifting and is courageous enough to try new things. This is precisely the mindset we need to develop RTR into the digital future and simultaneously set impulses for the entire SRG. She is the right person to shape this transformation.'
Simona Caminada will take up her new role on 1 September 2026. Until she assumes her duties, a transitional team will continue to lead the RTR regional unit on an interim basis.

Leadership teams at SRF, RTS, RSI and in the cross-regional offer sector appointed.
In June last year, the SRG Executive Board announced the cornerstones of the new organisational structure as part of the transformation project 'Enavant SRG SSR'. In doing so, SRG is coming closer together and bundling its strengths, while remaining anchored and present in the regions.
Since then, SRG has been advancing its transformation in line with this organisational structure. To enable stronger collaboration across regions, the management structures in the regional units SRF, RTS, RSI, and RTR are being standardized. The previous executive boards of SRF, RTS, RSI, and RTR will be replaced by regional leadership teams. Editorial responsibility for information, culture, entertainment, and society & knowledge remains within the regional units.
As another step in this comprehensive transformation, Roger Elsener, Director SRF, Mario Timbal, Director RSI, Pascal Crittin, Director RTS, and Nicolas Pernet, Director Offer, have now determined their definitive leadership teams, nominated together with the relevant regional associations, and proposed them to the SRG Board of Directors for election. The composition of the RTR leadership team will now follow soon since Simona Caminada has been elected as the new Director of RTR.
