As one of the most renowned international documentary film festivals, Visions du Réel has been presenting bold and unique works for over 50 years. Since 1995, the SRG has supported the festival as a media partner and awards the coveted "Prix de la Compétition Nationale". The winning film is included in the festival collection of the SRG streaming platform Play Suisse in the following year. This close and long-standing collaboration underscores the importance of this partnership: "SRG is an indispensable partner for documentary films in general and for Visions du Réel in particular," says Emilie Bujès, Artistic Director of the Festival.
Festival visitors can look forward to 14 SRG co-productions this year. Two particular highlights are the films "Dentro" by Elsa Amiel and "Heat" by Jacqueline Zünddar, both of which are celebrating their world premieres in the international competition. "L'oligarque et le marchand d'art" is also celebrating its Swiss premiere. The three-part series is an SRG and RTS co-production about a decades-long, bitter war between a Swiss art dealer and a Russian oligarch. Other highlights include "While the Green Grass Grows: A Diary in Seven Parts" by Peter Mettler and "Tristan Forever" by Tobias Nölle.
Events within the festival framework
In light of the long-standing cooperation between the SRG and ARTE, the traditional SRG-ARTE Soirée will take place in Nyon on April 21. Since 1995, the SRG and ARTE have realized numerous co-productions in the fields of fiction, documentary, and music, which have gained international recognition. Thanks to a co-production fund jointly financed annually, ambitious projects have been implemented in recent decades.
On April 23, the RTS Soirée will also take place to promote documentary filmmaking in Western Switzerland. At this event, the "Prix RTS de soutien à la création documentaire" award, worth 10,000 Francs, will be given to a documentary film project from Western Switzerland that is still in the development phase.
Special Collection on Play Suisse
On April 9, a special collection on Visions du Réel will be released on Play Suisse. Film lovers can enjoy a total of twelve documentaries. A particular highlight is "Les vies d'Andrès". The film won the "Prix de la Compétition Nationale" awarded by SRG in 2025 and tells the story of a small transport company, its truck drivers, and the pursuit of profit. Other highlights of the special collection include "The Landscape and the Fury", "Nuit obscure", and "While the Green Grass Grows".
