Compared to the previous year, profit increased by CHF 21 million to CHF 606 million, while Coop continued to heavily invest in attractive pricing. The generated profit remains fully within the company and is reinvested. Coop was able to increase its workforce to a total of 97,275 employees and welcomed a record number of 1,270 new apprentices.
In retail, the total turnover rose to CHF 21.2 billion. The net sales of Coop supermarkets, including Coop.ch, increased by CHF 316 million to CHF 12.4 billion, representing growth of 2.6%. Coop not only grew in supermarkets but also in specialised formats, enhancing its market shares. Demand increased both for the own-brand Prix Garantie and sustainable products. The wholesale/production sector saw currency-adjusted growth of 3.2% to CHF 17.2 billion.
In the sustainability sector, net sales grew by CHF 351 million to CHF 6.9 billion, further solidifying Coop's leadership in this area. Coop offers the most extensive range of sustainable products in both retail and wholesale. The organic sector achieved net sales of CHF 2.4 billion. The supermarkets in the city of Geneva, and since 2025 also those in Zurich, are supplied by Coop's own rail company Railcare, setting new standards in sustainable logistics.
By the end of 2025, Coop employed a total of 97,275 people. In Switzerland, 1,126 new jobs were created last year. Moreover, 1,270 new apprentices began their training in 37 professions at Coop last year—setting another record.
In the current complex global political climate, Coop looks optimistically to the future. It stands on a fundamentally solid financial foundation, follows clearly defined strategies, and can react quickly and agilely to new challenges.
Retail The total turnover in retail increased to CHF 21.2 billion. In 2025, Coop was able to gain market shares both in supermarkets and in specialised formats.
The Coop supermarkets, including Coop.ch, achieved net sales of CHF 12.4 billion, an increase of 2.6% compared to the previous year. In 2025, Coop reduced the prices of around 1,900 products, investing approximately CHF 700 million in lower prices since 2019. Coop consistently continues this price reduction strategy in the current year. The entry-level own-brand Prix Garantie grew by 7.5% in 2025, helping to ease household budgets in Switzerland.
Net sales in the specialised formats amounted to CHF 7.8 billion. In particular, Coop City, Interdiscount, Jumbo, Coop Vitality, and Update Fitness experienced positive developments. With an increase of 0.8% to CHF 531 million, the gastronomy/BâleHotels segments increased. Coop Pronto, as a leading convenience format, grew by 3.8%, showing positive development.
Excluding fuels, Coop recorded a currency-adjusted increase of 2.4% in retail.
Wholesale/Production The wholesale/production business segment recorded a total turnover of CHF 17.2 billion. This represents an increase of CHF 431 million or a currency-adjusted increase of 3.2%.
Transgourmet achieved total sales of CHF 11.9 billion, corresponding to a currency-adjusted increase of 2.9%, thus successfully developing in the European cash-and-carry and delivery wholesale market.
Net sales of the production facilities grew by CHF 232 million or currency- adjusted by 4.1%, amounting to CHF 5.9 billion.
Online Trade Coop’s online business achieved net sales of approximately CHF 6.1 billion, indicating a currency- adjusted growth of CHF 627 million. The online supermarket Coop.ch, with over 22,000 products, increased by 10.2% to CHF 375 million, making it the leader in online grocery retail. In the wholesale sector, net sales grew by a currency-adjusted 12.5%.
Sustainability Net sales in the sustainability area increased by CHF 351 million to CHF 6.9 billion in 2025, equivalent to a 5.3% rise. The organic sector saw net sales growth of 6.6% to CHF 2.4 billion. For the first time, net sales of Fairtrade products surpassed the 1-billion mark, increasing by 12.0% to CHF 1.1 billion, making Coop a global leader in this category.
With a total of around 21,600 products, Coop offers the most comprehensive range of sustainable products in retail and wholesale. Coop remains the undisputed market leader in sustainability in Switzerland.
