In autumn 2024, TCS Ambulance's first specially founded subsidiary for medical transport began operations in the Biel-Seeland region. After a successful development of business activities and an increased volume of operations, expansion is set to occur just a year later: From December, the company will operate from an additional base in the city of Bern. 'Demand in the city and agglomeration of Bern is high,' comments Philippe Klaus, CEO of TCS Ambulance. 'Proximity to our clients such as hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes is very important.' The subsidiary has 20 employees. Nationwide, the TCS Ambulance Group employs around 400 people across seven companies.
Guidelines of the Canton
The separation of emergency rescue transports and simpler patient transports meets a directive in the canton of Bern. For this reason, Spitalzentrum Biel AG partnered with TCS Ambulance and founded in 2024 the TCS Ambulance Services Mittelland AG. Since then, the newly founded company has primarily been active in the Biel-Seeland region for secondary patient transports in categories S3 and S4. An S3 transport refers to a scheduled transfer of stable patients with low risk of health deterioration; S4 transport is categorised as the transfer of a stable patient without risk of deterioration and without medical monitoring apparatus.
