Camping holidays are no longer a trend - they are firmly rooted in Swiss holiday culture. The year 2025 was a picture-perfect year for TCS Camping: following a strong early season, a peak summer in bookings ensued, and even the sunny autumn weeks ensured full sites until almost the end of September. Camping guests were not deterred by the rainy period in July. TCS Camping recorded around 900,000 overnight stays as in the previous year, despite the loss of the large Gampelen campsite.
Origin of guests slightly shifted.
The largest share of guests continues to come from Switzerland, at 69 percent. However, two years ago, they accounted for 75 percent of campers. Consequently, the proportion of international guests has increased. This is also due to the availability of booking on the international platform, Pincamp. Around 13 percent come from Germany, five percent from the Netherlands, followed by France and Great Britain. The camping memberships continue to develop positively. TCS Camping counts around 28,700 members, an increase of nearly four percent compared to the previous year.
La Tène in expansion, Horw extended.
Investments in modernization are planned for 2026 at various sites. Immediately upcoming over the winter is the first expansion phase at the La Tène campsite on Lake Neuchâtel. Starting from spring 2026, around 100 pitches will be available for tourists and seasonal guests. The second phase will be implemented on the adjacent island, with the centerpiece being the glamping village featuring bungalows and tent lodges in a modern stilt house style.
It is pleasing that the popular Horw campsite on Lake Lucerne can continue to operate until at least the end of 2029 due to a contract extension.
For most TCS campsites, the season ends in mid-October. The sites Flims, Lugano-Muzzano, Olivone, Samedan, Sion, and Solothurn will remain open during the winter.
