The Tour de Suisse 2026 kicks off today with a new format. Over five days, laps will be held in five
stage locations, with men's and women's races taking place consecutively on virtually identical courses.
However, the first stage of the Tour de Suisse is set in Italy today. In Sondrio, near the Swiss border, the
cyclists will navigate 144 hilly kilometers.
Even though the format of the Swiss national tour has
changed, one thing remains the same: the safety of the races must be ensured. Therefore, TCS is once
again part of the Swiss national tour as 'Road Safety Partner'. As part of this partnership, TCS sponsors
safety mats placed along the track at critical points. These mats alleviate danger spots like guardrails,
posts, or walls, allowing athletes a safe race.
Patrol and TCS Velocorner in the promotional
caravan
An integral part of the Tour de Suisse is always the promotional caravan, which passes
an hour before the peloton, distributing giveaways. This year, TCS is present with a patrol vehicle as well
as a TCS Velocorner vehicle. Additionally, TCS has a stand in the TdS villages at the stage locations.
The long-standing partnership with the Tour de Suisse perfectly aligns with TCS's commitment
to road safety. Ever since TCS was founded in 1896 by Geneva cyclists, safe roads for bicycles have
been a core concern. This commitment remains unchanged, benefiting professional cyclists at the Tour
de Suisse as well as everyday and hobby cyclists.

Conclusion of this article: « TCS in Action for a Safe Tour de Suisse »
Since its founding in 1896 in Geneva, the Touring Club Schweiz has been at the service of the
Swiss population. It is committed to safety, sustainability, and self-determination in personal mobility,
both politically and socially.
With over 2,000 employees and 23 regional sections, the largest
mobility club in Switzerland offers its more than 1.6 million members a wide range of services around
mobility, health, and leisure activities.
Every 70 seconds, assistance is provided. Annually, 200
patrol officers are on Swiss roads with about 361,000 operations, enabling immediate continuation of
the journey in more than 80% of cases. The ETI centre organises about 63,000 aid operations
annually, including 3,500 medical assessments and over 1,300 repatriations. TCS Ambulance is the
largest private player in rescue and patient transport services in Switzerland, with 400 employees, 22
logistics bases, and around 45,000 operations per year. The legal protection offices handle 52,000
cases and provide about 10,000 legal consultations.
Since 1908, TCS has been committed to
greater safety in mobility—enabled by membership. It develops educational materials, awareness,
and prevention campaigns, tests mobility infrastructures, and advises authorities. TCS distributes
around 115,000 reflective belts and 90,000 reflective vests to children annually to ensure their mobility
is safe. Each year, the driving centers record 42,000 participants in education and training across all
categories of vehicles.
With 32 locations and around 900,000 overnight stays, TCS is also the
largest camping provider in Switzerland. The TCS Mobility Academy researches and shapes
transformations in transport, such as drone vertical mobility or shared mobility, for example, with 400
electric cargo bikes 'carvelo' and 43,000 users. TCS is a co-signer of the Electromobility 2025
Roadmap.
