The AMAG Group AG is pursuing a net-zero ambition by 2040. According to the SBTi Near-Term Target, it aims to reduce its CO2 emissions in Scope 1 and 2 by 50% by 2030. Emissions in Scope 3, which occur during the usage phase of sold vehicles, are also expected to decrease by 50% in the same period. Photovoltaic systems on the roofs of its operations are a key component in implementing this strategy.
Expansion 2025: Seven New Systems – One Million kWh Additional
In 2025, seven new photovoltaic systems were completed and put into operation. Together, they cover an area of 4,704 square metres and have a maximum electricity production of about 970,571 kWh per year. These systems went into operation at the following locations: Zurich- Altstetten, Gümligen, Münchenbuchsee, Uster, Gamprin-Bendern, Aigle, and Petit-Lancy. The largest of the newly established systems in 2025 is located in Petit-Lancy; covering 727 square metres and providing up to roughly 245,000 kWh of electricity per year.
Overall, AMAG now operates 64 photovoltaic systems, whose panels cover an area of 58,500 square metres, producing 12.2 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually. By comparison, the area corresponds to more than eight football fields or approximately 225 tennis courts or about 4,680 parking spaces. With this total amount of power, an electric vehicle consuming an average of 17 kWh per 100 kilometres could drive around 71.8 million kilometres or 4,060 electric cars could each drive 15,000 kilometres. Alternatively, the same amount of electricity could power 4,880 average Swiss households for one year.
Further systems planned for 2025 are under realization and will be put into operation in the first quarter of 2026. Once all photovoltaic systems are in operation, a total area of 75,000 square metres will have been reached with solar modules.
Leading Provider of Renewable Mobility
The AMAG Group is striving to become the leading provider of sustainable renewable individual mobility in Switzerland. This includes increasingly producing its own electricity and using it for its locations and for electromobility. With the 2022 acquisition of Helion Energy AG, the AMAG Group can offer holistic solutions to private and fleet customers through its network of sales and service partners—from photovoltaics to heat pumps to charging solutions.
