With Urs Pfluger, NKB gains a proven leader with extensive experience in the banking and finance sector. "Urs Pfluger has impressed us both personally and professionally. He possesses high strategic competence, many years of leadership experience, and a strong track record of achievement. This makes him an excellent fit for our bank," says Daniel Bieri, President of the bank council. "The bank council and employees are greatly looking forward to shaping the future of Nidwaldner Kantonalbank together with Urs Pfluger."
The 54-year-old Urs Pfluger has been serving as Chief Market Officer (CMO) and a member of the executive board for Baloise Bank AG in Solothurn since 2007. In this role, he is responsible for the nationwide distribution in banking business, has led various strategic major projects, and has served as deputy CEO. Urs Pfluger is a certified banking specialist and holds an "Executive Master of Banking" from the University of Lucerne – Business (IFZ Zug). Through his nationwide activities, he also knows Central Switzerland well and will relocate to the canton of Nidwalden.

The Nidwaldner Kantonalbank will officially bid farewell to Heinrich Leuthard in a dignified manner over the course of the year 2026.
