As part of the Volunteer Day, employees engaged at the following locations:
Social Encounters: Joint activities with people with cognitive and multiple disabilities at the Schmetterling residential and work home in Cham and at the Martin Foundation in Erlenbach; exchange and play with elderly and dementia-affected residents of the Pflegezentrum Baar.
Food for the Needy: Sorting donated food at 'Tischlein deck dich' in Winterthur; food collection campaign for Samedi du Partage Vaud.
Ecological Engagements: Removal of neophytes and invasive plant species for the forestry office in Horgen and the workyard in Jöchler in Baar; renovation of 'forest sofas' for a local daycare and refreshment of the Vita Parcours for the Cham forest cooperative.
Promoting Social Participation
Naomi Stoffel, a caregiver at the Schmetterling residential and work home in Cham, knows how valuable such encounters are: 'For our residents, these encounters are much more than a change. They promote participation in society and create mutual understanding – which is central for the integration of our residents.'
Lived Company Culture
Katrin Lipp, HR Director of AstraZeneca Switzerland: 'Our drive is to improve the lives of patients. But our responsibility goes beyond that. The Volunteer Day shows that, as a team, we can also make a difference locally.'
For the company, awarded 'Great Place to Work' for the seventh consecutive time, trust, cohesion and commitment are integral to the corporate culture. The 'Share & Care Day' visibly demonstrates this attitude – outside of the usual roles and at the heart of the community.
