The Smoke-Free Month offers a chance in November to quit smoking permanently over the course of 30 days. The goal is to ease the entry into a smoke-free life with the support of the community. 'It's worth making a change. In recent years, over 10,000 people have participated in the campaign. Participants tell us that they were able to quit nicotine or tobacco thanks to the Smoke-Free Month, and they are extremely proud and happy about it,' says Livia Fuchs, BSc Health Promotion and Prevention, part of the Smoke-Free Month project team.
Support that extends beyond November.
The challenge is supported by the national counseling service stopsmoking: While the Smoke-Free Month motivates people with experts, daily tips, and a strong community, the stopsmoking team accompanies participants with individual advice and well-founded information, even beyond the November challenge. Professionals can also contact stopsmoking with questions. 'In the Smoke-Free Month in November, people find a good opportunity to change their smoking habits along with others. Our job is to continue supporting participants beyond the month to secure a sustainable smoke-free everyday life,' explains Selina Schättin from the counseling service stopsmoking, which is operated by the Swiss Cancer League.
