Coop is committed to providing good working conditions for its employees. Effective January 1, 2026, a new collective labor agreement will be implemented, to which Coop and its social partners, the Association of Coop Employees (VdAC), the Swiss Commercial Association, Syna, OCST, and Unia, have agreed. Notable points include:
- The minimum wage will be raised to 4,300 francs, and the reference wage
after two years of basic training will increase to 4,400 francs.
- The reference wage after three or four years of basic training will be increased to 4,500 francs and 4,700
francs, respectively.
- Paternity leave will be extended to 20 days.
- Employees with a monthly wage of up to 5,300 francs will newly be eligible to apply for Coop Child Care
contributions for child care.
- Apprentices will receive two weeks of youth leave with continued full pay.
Pleasant Wage
Development
Coop also sets its wage round for the coming year. In 2026, Coop employees will again benefit from higher
wages. Wages for employees with a collective labor agreement will be individually increased, regardless of
any adjustments to minimum and reference wages. Wage increases for management employees will also
be individual.
For this purpose, Coop allocates 1% of the wage bill. These include the increases in minimum and
reference wages under the new collective labor agreement. Thus, Coop continues the positive wage
development of recent years in 2026.
Attractive Working Conditions at Coop For years, Coop has conducted positive wage rounds, making it one of the most attractive employers in the Swiss retail sector. Coop wages have risen by 10.7% in the past ten years, partly despite negative inflation. This corresponds to a real wage increase of 3.2%. Furthermore, Coop covers two-thirds of pension fund contributions. In addition to exciting training opportunities, Coop employees benefit from loyalty bonuses and numerous discounts. Since April 2020, Coop has held the 'Fair Compensation' certificate from the Swiss Association for Quality and Management Systems (SQS). This certificate confirms that Coop's wage policy meets the criteria for compliance with wage justice.
