The award ceremony took place on Friday, 17 October 2025, in front of around 300 guests from the international events scene. The C&IT Awards are among the most prestigious accolades in the British event industry and are considered a benchmark for innovation and best practices in the MICE sector.
Case Study with Impact
With the 'Go Sustainable' study tour, the Zurich Convention Bureau together with the Lucerne Convention Bureau, the Switzerland Convention & Incentive Bureau, Evolve Events, and Eurostar set a standard for future-oriented events.
Around 35 event planners from the UK travelled exclusively by public transport and visited Zurich and Lucerne. The trip practically demonstrated how ecological, social, and economic responsibility can be implemented in all phases of an event – from travel through to the programme and impact measurement. The focus was on joint learning, regional value creation, and new forms of networking.
During their stay, participants discovered hotels, museums, and other partner businesses and gained authentic insights into the quality and diversity of Zurich as a MICE destination. An external expert assessed the implementation according to 30 ESG criteria and calculated the event's CO2e footprint. The results are clear: by travelling exclusively by train, emissions were reduced by around 90 percent.
'Go Sustainable has drawn international attention and shown that our approach has an impact. The award is a valuable confirmation that together with our partners, we are successfully positioning Zurich as an exciting and future-oriented event location,' says Vanessa Reis, Head of Convention Bureau of Zurich Tourism.
