05.11.2026, Zurich - The international study 'Generation Z Top Talents: DACH Study 2026' reveals market-shaping insights into generational connections in the workplace. It's not remuneration but integration into the company that matters.

Kitoko People, a consulting firm specializing in Generations Z and Alpha, bases the study on a sample of 2,000 high-performing candidates from the talent competitions of WorldSkills Germany, SkillsAustria, and SwissSkills and shows significant differences between countries and professional groups.

For the first time with empirical clarity, it is demonstrated that it is not remuneration that determines the retention and willingness to change of the younger generations. Far more crucial is how successfully companies integrate the different generations into the performance creation process.

Contrary to previous assumptions, the current study shows that half of the top talents see their career prospects in the company for more than four years. The widespread image of the willing-to-change Generation Z must be revised.

Leadership as a central lever: A significantly high proportion cite dissatisfaction with leaders or trainers as a reason for changing. Therefore, the aspects of training and integration, as well as internal dialogue, gain decisive importance. With the necessary expansion of skills within the company, medium-term retention of the young generation becomes more achievable.
