03.07.2026, With the second season of the podcast 'Ade merci, Schweiz,' Swissinfo expands its audio offerings further. Podcasts enable the international online service of SRG SSR to present complex topics in a nuanced way, close to the realities of its audience's lives. This allows Swissinfo to reach target groups interested in Switzerland, who are increasingly less likely to use traditional news formats, as part of its international mandate.

Podcasts have established themselves worldwide as an independent journalistic format. For Swissinfo, they complement reporting in text and video, contributing to the journalistic mission of making Swiss topics understandable and tailored to the needs and usage habits of Swiss citizens abroad and the international audience. This is where the added value for the Swiss public service lies: Switzerland is not only read where there is interest, but it is also heard.

'Podcasts give people time to understand contexts and learn about different perspectives. This creates space for topics, especially for an international audience, that go beyond the daily news,' says Jo Fahy, Head of Multimedia at Swissinfo.

International Perspectives in Audio Format

The international orientation of Swissinfo also influences its audio offerings. Swissinfo podcasts are developed in multiple languages and place Swiss topics in a global context. This allows Swissinfo to enrich its journalistic offerings with a format that is gaining significance worldwide and particularly appeals to younger audiences.

'In English-, Spanish-, and Portuguese-speaking markets, they reach millions of listeners and offer international media houses like Swissinfo the opportunity to reach international audiences with in-depth journalism. For instance, the number of podcast enthusiasts in Brazil is estimated at 32 million. In Spain, more than 15 million people listened to at least one podcast between 2024 and 2025, representing a growth of 4.5% compared to the previous year,' Jo Fahy continues.

With the second season of 'Ade merci, Schweiz' launched on June 25, 2026, Swissinfo continues this approach. The podcast addresses questions that concern many Swiss citizens abroad, combining personal experiences with journalistic analysis and expert knowledge.

'Our podcast 'Ade merci, Schweiz' is deliberately a bilingual production. It primarily targets the Fifth Switzerland and people in Switzerland considering emigration,' say the podcast hosts Camille Kündig, Emilie Ridard, and Claire Micallef, about the second season launched on June 25, 2026.

Swissinfo podcasts can be streamed via the free SWIplus app or all major platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube. The international Swissinfo podcasts are produced in German, French, English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
