Swiss Employees, the association for employees in the tech and industrial sectors, acknowledges the announcement made by Steinel Solutions AG regarding the reduction of jobs at the Einsiedeln site and the initiation of a corresponding consultation procedure.
The association recognises that the company is operating in a challenging economic environment and that the initiated procedure complies with the provisions of the collective labour agreement (GAV) and legal regulations. In Swiss Employees' view, adherence to these is a central requirement for a fair and orderly process.
Profound Impact on Affected Employees
At the same time, Swiss Employees acknowledges that the possible impacts for the affected employees represent a profound cut. These are skilled workers whose technical know-how has been developed over the years and who form a significant part of the industrial value creation at the site.
"The affected employees have significantly contributed to the company's quality, reputation, and economic success," says Jan Borer of Swiss Employees. "That they now face significant professional consequences in a period of global uncertainty is problematic from our perspective. Nevertheless, we are confident that the procedure will proceed orderly in this case."
We Demand Socially Responsible Solutions
The association expects the consultation procedure to be conducted transparently and openly, with the suggestions from employees taken seriously. This includes the careful consideration of alternatives and measures that sustainably consider the perspectives of the workforce.
From the perspective of Swiss Employees, the following points are paramount:
- Preserving as many jobs as possible at the Einsiedeln site
- Socially responsible solutions for the affected individuals
- Investment in qualification, innovation, and local value creation
Swiss Employees will closely monitor the further course of events and continue to support the dialogue constructively.
